    Bessie Allen, 98, of Cameron died Monday, August 9, 2004 in a Cameron nursing facility. Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Allen, retired homemaker, was born August 15, 1905 in Milam County to Andrew and Annie (Bishop) Richards. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron. She married Grady Allen. He preceded her in death. Her son Grady Allen, Jr., also preceded her in death. Survivors include: Son Jack Allen of Palacios Daughter Mary Frances Schwarting of Victoria 4 Grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren
Alvarado, Amber Rain
    Amber Rain Alvarado, infant daughter of John Joseph and Judy Lynn (Flores) Alvarado of Killeen, died January 30, 2004 at her home. Services will be 10:00a.m. February 2, 2004 at St. Monica's Church. Burial will follow in Hernandez Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 7:00p.m. Sunday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.     Susan Angell Alvarado, 45, of Cameron died Thursday, February 26, 2004 in Gatesville. Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, March 4, at Oak Hill Pavilion. Rosary will be recited 7:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Ms. Alvarado, a beauty operator, was born December 20, 1958 in Cameron to Eldridge and Grace (Sapp) Angell. Survivors include: daughters Audrey Garcia of Copperas Cove and Celeste Angell of Buckholts; sons John Alvarado, Jr. and Daniel Alvarado both of Copperas Cove; brother Kenneth Angell of Belton; sister Rebecca Nichols of Houston; and grandson Jose Garcia, Jr.
Aranda, Maria Luz "Mary"
    Maria Luz "Mary" Aranda, 74 of Houston and formerly of Cameron died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at her home. Funeral services Saturday at St. Monica's Catholic Church with Rev. Walter Matus officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Monica's Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Ms. Aranda, a retired office director for St. Joseph Hospital in Houston was born November 30, 1929 in Cameron to Luis Aranda and Petra Hernandez. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church and a retired member of Theater under the Stars organization in Houston. Survivors include: Son Robert J. Armstrong, Ruby Lee
    Ruby Lee Armstrong, 92, of LaGrange and formerly of Cameron died Monday, September 13, 2004 in a LaGrange nursing home. Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Jim Lafferty officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Armstrong was born October 10, 1911 in Rockdale to Charlie and Annie (Doss) Dockall. She attended school in Rockdale. She married Preston J. Armstrong on December 21, 1929 and they lived in Cameron until 2002 when she moved to LaGrange to be near her niece, Mrs. Clara Michalka and family. Mrs. Armstrong was a homemaker and bookkeeper for their auto sales business from 1938 until 1990 when they retired. Mr. Armstrong preceded her in death on July 16, 1991. Her parents and two brothers, Aden and Guy "Doc" Dockall also preceded her in death. She was a Baptist. Survivors include: Sister-in-law Mable Kuhn McDonald of Cameron Numerous nieces and nephews in the LaGrange, Cameron, Rockdale, Buckholts, Austin and Temple areas Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Balch, Wendle Odell
    Wendle Odell Balch, 68 of Cameron died Tuesday, January 13 at his home. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Davilla Assembly of God Church in Davilla. Family visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. Wendle, a machinist by trade, was born December 28, 1935 in Kemp, Texas to Floyd C. and Izola B. Suzie Balch. He married Marrianne Wilson on July 3, 1983. He was a member of the Davilla Assembly of God Church. He is survived by his wife Marianne Wilson Balch of Cameron; sons Doyle Odell Balch and wife Tracy of Milford, TX and Alan Balch and wife Carol of Temple, TX; step-sons Keith Roberts of McKinney and Daniel Sullivan of Seagoville, TX; step-daughters Denise Stanton and husband Rowell of Carrolton, TX and Jimmie Hutson and husband Larry of Lake Dallas, TX; 6 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren, and one step great grandson. Wendle is survived by his sister Vera Hildebrand of Greenville, TX, several nephews, nieces and cousins. Wendle was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Memorials may be made to the Wendle Balch Memorial Fund in care of Citizens National Bank.
Barrett, James Clifton
    James Clifton Barrett, Jr., 60 of Cameron, died Sunday, May 2, 2004 in a Cameron hospital. Graveside services will be 2:00pm Friday at Clarkson Cemetery. Mr. Barrett was born May 21, 1943 in Cameron to Clifton and Fannie Mae (Jenkins) Barrett. He was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School. He worked in the circulation department of The Cameron Herald. Survivors include: cousins and friends.
Barrett, Pauline
    Pauline Barrett, 82, of Cameron and formerly of Orange, California, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 in a Cameron hospital. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Little River Cemetery. Mrs. Barrett, a restaurant owner and operator, was born January 5, 1922 in Gans, Oklahoma to L.G. and LulaBelle (Holson) Smith. She married John Alva Barrett and he preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Barrett was a member of First Methodist Church in Orange, California. She is survived by: daughter, Carolyn Lister of Cameron, TX; sister Edna Templeton of Hartshorne, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Barrett, Thelma Rae
    Thelma Rae Barrett, 89, of Cameron died Friday, October 8, 2004 in a local nursing facility. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. James E. Lafferty and Rev. Jim Lafferty officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Barrett, a homemaker, was born October 29, 1914 in Yarrellton to Charlie and Minnie Mae (Wallace) Griffin. She attended Yarrellton school and then graduated from C.H. Yoe High School. She married Smith L. Barrett and he preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. Barrett was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron where she was active in her Sunday school class. She was a member of the Central Texas Hospital Auxiliary. A stepsister, Charlene Ludwig, also preceded her in death. Survivors include: Sons Littleton (Litt) Barrett of Cameron Griffin S. Bauer, Leo Alfred
    Leo Alfred Bauer, 77 of Cameron died Thursday, January 15 at his home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. Monica's Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Leo was born January 9, 1927 in Cameron to John and Josephine(Moraw)Bauer. He was a 1944 graduate of C.H. Yoe High School. He worked for T.U. Electric for 36 years and was an R.V.O.S. sales representative for Lodge 73 for 26 years. Leo also served as Democratic Precinct Chairman in Milam County for many years. He married Janie Krenek January 10, 1950. Survivors include: wife Janie Bauer of Cameron; sons Edward Bauer and wife Debbie of Trinity, and Lawrence Bauer and wife Barbara of Cameron; grandchildren Diana Smith, Amanda Bauer, Courtney Bauer, Rachell Bauer, Arron Bauer, and Eric Bauer; brother Irvin Bauer of Cameron; nephew Michael Junek of Cameron; and niece Lee Ann Smith of Cameron. Brady, Leon
    Leon L. Brady, 86 of Buckholts died Friday, July 9, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Brady was born December 20, 1917 in Taylor to Joe E. and Fanny (Lovergne) Brady. He graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown in 1940 and attended Texas A&M University to work on his Masters;s degree. He married Elise Horstmann on December 10, 1943 in Galveston. He taught school in the Corinth School from 1940 until he was drafted into the Army in 1941 where he served in the Europe Theater. After the war, Mr. Brady taught G.I. School and farmed. He later served as principal at Cameron Ada Henderson from 1954 until 1960. From 1962 until 1975, he served as Superintendent of Buckholts ISD. He was Milam County Tax coordinator in 1977 and 1978 and probation officer for Milam County from 1978 until 1990. Mr. Brady was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buckholts and served as a deacon for over 55 years and taught Sunday School from the time he was 18 years of age. He was a charter member of the Buckholts Lions Club, served on the U.S. Selective Service System in the late 1950's, and was a member of the V.F.W. Edwin Hardy Post 2010, Charter member of the National WWII Memorial program and Teachers Retirement Association. Buckholts honored him on October 10, 1975 with is retirement from the school with a resolution for "Leon Brady Day". He also had a building named for him in 2002 by the Buckholts ISD. He served on the Weir Community Cemetery Board. Survivors include: His wife of 60 years, Elise Brady of Buckholts; son Joe Michael Brady of Belton; daughter Janie Brady Brown of Naples, Florida; sister Louise Brady of Austin; 2 granddaughters Andrea Glaser Meer of Orlando, Florida, and Christina Michelle Brady of Montgomery; 6 great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Martha Jane Busby of Seguin and Betty Chenoweth of San Antonio. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Buckholts or Vistacare Hospice.

    Miguel Calvillo, 57 of Cameron, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at his residence. A funeral mass will be 10:00am Friday, February 13, 2004 at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited 7:00pm Thursday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Miguel Calvillo was born September 29, 1946 in Mexico to Feliciano and Maria (Huerta) Calvillo. Mr. Calvillo worked as a truck driver for ALCOA. Survivors include: wife Juanita Garcia of Cameron; sons Andrew Lopez of New Braunfels, Miguel Angel Lopez, and Ray Lopez both of Cameron; daughter Linda Lopez of Waco; brother Elias Calvillo of Mexico; and 6 grandchildren.
Caruthers, Inez H.
    Inez H. Caruthers, 90, of Dallas and formerly of Cameron died Friday, September 24, 2004 at her home. Graveside services will be 2.00 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs Caruthers, a retired cafe and dry cleaning business owner, was born November 26, 1913 in Robstown, Texas to William Powell and June Pearl Smith Rader. She married J.L. Caruthers and he preceded her in death in 1990. A son, David Hunt also preceded her in death. Chamberlain, Thomas
    Thomas (Tommy) Chamberlain, 67, of Cameron, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at his residence. Services will be held 3:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Mr. Chamberlain, owner and operator of Chamberlain Meat Company, was born to Homer and Stella (Butler) Chamberlain on December 6, 1936 in Cameron. He was a 1955 graduate of C.H. Yoe High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry from Texas A&M as well as earning an Associate's degree in law enforcement from Temple Junior College. He married Catherine Krenek December 29, 1973. Achieving numerous certifications, Mr. Chamberlain achieved his Master Peace Officer certification in 1994. He served as Milam County Constable for Precinct #1 for over 23 years, during which he was names Constable of the Year in 2002. He served in the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years and had served as a past president and secretary for many years. He served as the City Fire Marshall and Arson Investigator. Mr. Chamberlain served as the first County Emergency Management Coordinator in Milam County. He was founder and president of the Central Texas Justices of the Peace and Constables Association, a member of the Central Texas Peace Officers Association, Texas Fire Marshalls Association, as well as a reserve police officer. A brother, Bert Chamberlain, preceded him in death. Survivors include: wife Catherine Chamberlain of Cameron; sons Gary Chamberlain of Cameron, and Michael Junek of Temple; daughters Lynette Chamberlain Elwell of Ovilla and Lee Ann Smith of Cameron; brother Gray Chamberlain of Cameron; and grandchildren Garin Elwell, Cooper Smith, Gary Thomas Chamberlain, and Ethan Chamberlain. Chambers, Edith Kleiber
    Edith Kleiber Chambers, 86 of Alvin and formerly of Milam County died Sunday, January 4. Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday January 8, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. Local visitation will be held Thursday January 8 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at the chapel in Cameron. Mausoleum-side services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Monica's Mausoleum in Cameron. Mrs. Chambers was born September 30, 1917 in the Ad Hall Community of Milam County to Frank and Emily Kleiber. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. Survivors include; her husband of 62 years, Homer A. Chambers; son Eugene Chambers and wife Carole 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Cheatham,Mildred Vernell
    Mildred Vernell Cheatham(Nell), our Valentine, went to be with her Lord and Savior February 14, 2004. She was born August 19, 1926 in Nueces County, Texas. Nell was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Cameron, TX. She retired from Hill Country where she worked with Meals on Wheels and was one of Cameron's most active and loved volunteers. Preceded in death by her husband, E.L. Cheatham, son Jack Konopacki and granddaughter Lisa Lovell, she is survived by her son Tim Cheatham and wife Danna, daughter Sherry Lovell and husband Mickey, grandchildren Travis Lovell, Beky and Ethan Cheatham and great granddaughter Harley. Brothers, Ed Sorenson and wife, Kitty, Dwane Sorenson and wife Mildred, Larry Sorenson and wife Norma and sisters, Marie Corley and Minnie Ball and husband Don also survive her.     Fay E. Conner, 79, of Highland, Illinois and formerly of Cameron died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at her home.     Pansy Adell Crawford, 93 of Seymour and formerly of Cameron, died Saturday, July 3, 2004 in a Seymour hospital. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, July 8, 2004 at the Church of Christ in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Pansy Crawford was born May 27, 1911 in Temple to Henry Rudolph and Candice (Crittendon) Hoes. Mrs. Crawford attended C.H. Yoe High. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for over 35 years and was awarded Nurse of the Year. Pansy Crawford was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Cameron. Preceding her in death are her husband, Tim Crawford, son Charles Crawford, granddaughter Charolette, 3 stepchildren Tim Crawford Jr, Nellie Ulrich, and Woodrow Crawford, brothers Elmore Hoes, Frank Hoes, and John Henry Hoes, and sister Irene Cravollus. Survivors include: daughters Dorothy Adell Beaver of Irving, Jo Norman of Seymour, and Myrtle Jean Mueller of Ocala, Florida; sister Bertha Ellen Bird of Caldwell; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

    Maria Del Carmen Cuellar, 81, of Buckholts, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 in a Temple hospital. Services will be 10:00am, Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hernandez Cemetery. Prayer service will be 7:00pm, Monday, at the funeral home. Carmen was born November 4, 1922 in Mexico to Ricardo and Maria Del (Refugio) Renteria. She worked as homemaker.     - Ralph Dalton, Jr. 65, of Pasadena died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at his home. Graveside services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Little River Cemetery near Jones Prairie with Rev. Bob Glenn officiating. Mr. Dalton, an electronic technician, was born February 21, 1939 in Mercedes, Texas to Ralph and Florence (Goss) Dalton. He married Janice Bailey in September 1967. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena and the Woodland Masonic Lodge AF & AM. His son Gregory and one brother preceded him in death. Darby, Harold
    Harold B. Darby, 86 of Cameron and formerly of Bryan died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited 7:00pm Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Darby, a retired foreman for Industrial Generating Company, was born March 28, 1918 in Iola to Ira Davis and Ophelia (Grissett) Darby. He married Marie Ruffino on August 30, 1950. A World War II Army veteran, he served as a tank driver during battles in Normandy, France, Central Europe, Germany and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a charter member of the National WWII Memorial Program and a member of the Edwin Hardy Post #9 American Legion. An active member of St. Monica's Church, Mr. Darby served as president of both the Parish Council for 2 years and the Finance Council for several years. He served as 3rd and 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight for many years and 2 years as District Deputy. Survivors include: his wife Marie Darby of Cameron; daughters Lanelle Fikes of Cameron, Sharon Richter of Cameron, Shelia Valero of Bryan, and Sherry Lane Williams of Bryan; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Saint Monica's Restoration Fund or the charity of donor's choice.
Darst, Lucille Freeman
    Lucille Freeman Darst, 93, of Cameron passed away Saturday, May 15,2004 in a local nursing home. Services will be held Tuesday, May 18 at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be Wednesday at 1:00pm in Oak Grove Cemetery in Yoakum, Texas. Lucille Darst was the youngest of six siblings, born to John William and Mary Elizabeth Freeman. She graduated from Yoakum High School and married Weldon Wright Darst in 1928. In 1930, they moved to Austin, where they made their home and raised their children. Because of her strong faith in the Lord, she was an active member in the Baptist church. In 1981, they moved to Cameron. She was preceded in death by Weldon in 1996 after 68 years of marriage. Survivors include: daughter Barbara Darst Latta and husband Ralph of Georgetown; son Richard Darst and wife Beth of Cameron; 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.     Luther Gerald Edmondson, 61, of Cameron died Friday, April 9, in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Edmondson, a supervisor for Tex-O-Cal Hardwoods in Temple, was born June 25, 1942 in Cameron to Hubert Forest and Lessie (Tindall) Edmondson. He was a member of the First Memorial Baptist Church in Temple. His wife Bonnie and brother Hubert, Jr. preceded him in death. Survivors include: daughter Joyce Ann Hill of Holland; stepson Tony Warren of Temple; brother Charles Marshall Edmondson of Cameron; sister Beulah Faye Franklin of Cameron; and 2 grandchildren.
Eichinger, Joe Lee
    Joe Lee Eichinger, 65 of Cameron died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 in a Temple hospital. Graveside funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Pebble Grove Cemetery near Maysfield with Rev. Jim Lafferty officiating. Family visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Mr. Eichinger, an avid hunter and fisherman, was born July 1, 1939 in the Hoyt Community of Milam County to Frank and Olive (Sanders) Eichinger.     Susie B. Finney, 88, of Lampasas died January 27, 2004 in a Killeen hospital. Services will be 2:00p.m. Saturday, January 31 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Elm Cemetery. Ms. Finney was born December 9, 1915 in Nix, TX to Thomas Jacob and Tennessee "Tennie" (Nichols) Poole. Ms. Finney, a homemaker, was a Pastworthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Saratoga Lodge in Lampasas. Ms. Finney was also a member of Maplewood Baptist Church. Fogle, Wesley G.
    - Graveside services for Mr. Wesley G. Fogle, 78 of Cameron, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2004 in the Lockhart City Cemetery in Lockhart. He died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 in Rockdale after a lengthy illness. Mr. Fogle was born January 5, 1926 in Caldwell County, the youngest of six children born to Robert Lee and Mattie (Hermann) Fogle. He volunteered for the U. S. Navy during WWII and served aboard the USS Nerius for two years. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He married Ruby New on December 24, 1948. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Communication Workers of America and the Edwin Hardy Post #9 American Legion. Survivors included: his wife of 56 years, Ruby New Fogle of Cameron; one son Glenn Fogle and wife Charlotte, one grandson Wesley Fogle and one granddaughter Katherine Fogle all of Pflugerville.     Robert Henry Foster, Jr., 62 of Branchville, died April 13, 2004 in a Temple hospital. Graveside services will be 2:00pm Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Little River Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00pm-8:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Foster was born October 27, 1941 in Fort Worth to Robert Henry and Dorothy Marie (Allen) Foster. He served in the United States Army, and also graduated from Texas Tech University. Robert Foster worked as a retail sales manager. Fuchs, Frances Persky
    Frances Persky Fuchs, 84 of Buckholts, Texas was called to heaven on Wednesday evening, January 14, 2004. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts, TX. Frances was born October 20, 1919 in Sharp, Texas to Arnold and Bertha Persky. She attended school in Sharp. On November 8, 1938 she married Alvin Fuchs in the Lutheran parsonage in Rockdale, Texas. They shared 53 loving years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1991. Together, Frances and Alvin farmed in the Buckholts area for many years and were very involved in school and community activities. Frances was mayor of Buckholts from 1984-1987 and was currently serving on the city council. She was named Buckholts Citizen of the Year in 1995-1996. Frances was a long time member of Hope Lutheran Church where she was very active up until her death. she served as church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Luther League sponsor, and held all offices in the Women of Hope Lutheran ELCA. She also served on the board of directors for Hope Lutheran Memorial Park and was an officer in the AAL organization. Her faithful and constant service will be greatly missed. While Frances and Alvin had no children, they were "Aunt Frances and Uncle Alvin" to many nieces and nephews who share many fond memories of the annual ""Niece and Nephew Party". Frances enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, playing dominoes and bridge, and spending time with all of her family and friends. Frances was preceded in death by: husband Alvin; sister Leona Peschel; and brother Gilbert Persky. She is survived by: brother and sister in law Bob and Elna Persky of Rogers,Texas; brother in law Hugo Fuchs of Rogers; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Frances was greatly loved by her family and friends and we will miss her quiet patient understanding, her many words of encouragement and love. Fuchs, Monsignor Sylvestor J.
    Monsignor Sylvester J. Fuchs, 79, of Westphalia and Lost Prairie Community died Thursday, October 21, 2004 in a Temple nursing center. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Monday, October 25, 2004 at the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia with Bishop Gregory M. Aymond celebrating and Msgr. John McCaffery, Rev. Jesse Euresti, Rev. Kirby Garner and Rev. Louis Pavlicek co-celebrating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Westphalia. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Msgr. Fuchs was the seventh of nine children of Anton and Berth Engelhart Fuchs and the fifth child to enter the Religious Life. He attended the Westphalia School, with senior year graduation from Rosebud High School as an honor student in May of 1942. The following fall, Msgr. Fuchs entered St. Mary's Seminary in La Porte for his studies for the Catholic Priesthood. On May 15, 1949, Bishop Louis J. Reicher, ordained him in his home parish, the Church of the Visitation. From June to August of 1949, he assisted in St. Mary's Church in Waco and then reported to St. Josephs Church in Bryan, Texas as Associate Pastor. The ministry in Bryan included St. Mary's student chapel at Texas A & M University and the Bryan Air Force Base. He taught in the Parochial School and coached Pee Wee athletics for the school as well as being moderator for the CYO, the Newman Club and Student Council Knights of Columbus at Texas A & M. During his ministry in Bryan, Msgr. Fuchs enrolled at Texas A & M and carried several hours of study for six years. In 1959, Bishop Reicher appointed him to be Pastor of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Bellville where he remained for 30 years until reaching senior status in 1990 at which time he returned home near Westphalia and Lost Prairie Community. In his initial years at St. Peter & Paul Parish, Msgr. Fuchs purchased a new and much larger site with intent to relocate the Parish. In 1961, a new parish center was constructed with the new church and rectory to follow in eight years. A new learning center was added a few years later. A youth group, junior sodality, altar servers, Holy Nam Society, Ladies Altar Society and a Knights of Columbus Council were organized and revitalized. In 1963, Msgr. Fuchs volunteered to be an Army Reserve Chaplain and completed twenty years of military reserve duty and retired with rank of LTC in 1983. Msgr. Fuchs was Dean of the Brenham Deanery for many years, CYO Deanery Moderator, and Moderator for the Deanery Council of Catholic Women, and served on the Diocesan Presbyteral Council. He worked with Family Life Programs, was Chaplain to the Knights of Columbus Council and State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus of Texas in 1970-71. In 1986, Pope John Paul II named him a Domestic Prelate, a Monsignor. During his thirty years in Bellville, his civic and community involvements included being Chaplain to the Volunteer Fire Department, president and tail twister in the Lions club, receiving a life membership from the Lions. He worked with the Austin County Unit of the American Cancer Society, the Bellville Community Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce, County Extension Service, Garden Clubs, Ministerial Alliance and County Fairs. In 1968 he received the Citizen of the Year Award, the Fire Chief's Award in 1983, in 1987 the Good Neighbor Award of Bellville, and in 2004, the Rosebud High School Outstanding Alumnus Award. There were military commendations and Chaplain service medals and recognitions for his extended Chaplain Service beyond his twenty years. There are a number of trophies, plaques and many ribbons for placing in the County Fair parades, pecan shows, garden club shows and extension service competitions. Msgr. Fuchs enjoyed many and a sundry hobbies among which were restoring antique cars, stamp collecting, model trains, wine making wood carving, landscaping, horticulture and floriculture, pecan and fruit tree grafting, vegetable gardening, cooking, and candy making. His yard at Lost Prairie Community was featured in BIRDS AND BLOOMS, a national magazine in 1996. His parish churchyard in Bellville, was awarded state first place in Texas Small Church Gardens competition in 1968. In June of 1998, he completed the Master Gardeners Course from Texas A & M with the Bell County Extension service. In 1998, he memorialized Msgr. J.B. Gleissner and Msgr. Tim Valenta, the first two Chaplains to the Catholic Aggies at Texas A & M by donating the funds for two offices in the new St. Mary's Student center at Texas A & M University. His parents, two sisters; Sr. Liliosa Fuchs and Sr. Tharsilla Fuchs; three brothers; Werner Fuchs, Msgr. Robert Fuchs and Walter Fuchs all preceded him in death. Survivors include sisters, Sr. Audrey Fuchs of Our Lady of the Lake Convent in San Antonio, Zita Kahlig of Westphalia, and Clara Ann Richardson of Cameron and sisters-in-law, Adeline Fuchs of San Angelo and Clara Fuchs of Westphalia and numerous nieces and nephews.     Imogene McLerran Haraway, age 86, of Texarkana, Arkansas and formerly of Cameron, died Friday, March 12, 2004 in a Texarkana nursing home. Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. Mrs. Haraway was born July 26, 1917 in Cameron and had been a resident of Texarkana for over forty years. She was retired from Day and Zimmerman Inc. and a member of Williams Memorial Untied Methodist Church. Her husband, Harry G. Haraway preceded her in death.     Funeral services for Sinia Reaves Harris, 94, native of Milam County, are set for 11am Thursday, July 24, 2004 at Oakwood Cemetery near Fifth and LaSalle in Waco. Mrs. Harris died Monday in a Cameron nursing facility after a long illness. Mrs. Harris was born November 25, 1909, to John Henry and Ethel Dodson Reaves on the family's Blackland farm between Cameron and Ben Arnold. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Phrona Reaves McClendon and a brother J.D. Reaves. She was educated in Ben Arnold, Cameron, and what is now Texas State University in San Marcos where she earned the bachelor of science degree, For 10 years, 1931-1941, she was an elementary school teacher at Milam rural schools, Belmena and Curry, then at Ada Henderson Grammar School in Cameron. She spent the remainder of her working life in federal civil service where she was a manager on the regional level. For 12 years from 1928 to 1941 she was the wife of Sam Brewer (1902-1995) of Cameron. Divorced in 1941, she later married Charles L. Harris (1909-1996)who also was a federal employee. They lived in Dallas, Lubbock, and Waco. She and Mr. Harris lived in Waco for 30 years until his death when she returned to live with her daughter at Mrs. Harris's home. Survivors include: daughter Marion Brewer Travis; granddaughter Roxane Travis Witte of Houston; grandson Christopher Karl Travis of Round Top; 5 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren who live in Houston, Austin, Smithville, and Denver, CO. Head, Lillian Juanita
    Lillian Juanita Head, 97 of Cameron and formerly of Harlingen, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 in a Cameron nursing center. Services will be 2:00pm Friday, July 13, 2004 at the funeral home with grandson-in-law Rev. Jim Lafferty officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial will follow 10:00am Monday, July 19, 2004 at Restlawn Cemetery in Harlingen. Lillian Head was born January 26, 1907 to John Paul and Hetty Lewis Owens in Mill Creek, Oklahoma. In 1921, she moved to the valley, and five years later on May 16, 1926, she was married to J.L. Head. They were married for 69 years. Mrs. Head was an avid golfer, and in 1935, she organized the first Women's Golf Association in the Rio Grande Valley. Lillian Head was associated with the Life Begins at 40 Golf Tournament in Harlingen, and received the title of Rio Grande Ladies Golf Champ twice. She was also active in working with the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Head was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harlingen since 1942. Preceding her in death are her husband, J.L. Head, three sisters, one half brother, and three half sisters. Survivors include: daughters Jean Head Tumlinson of Cameron, Dr. Nancy Bowen of Rockport, and Linda Head Gray of Springfield Missouri; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.     Darlie D. Henrichsen, 92 of Cleveland, Tennessee and formerly of Cameron, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at her residence. Graveside services will be 2:00pm Monday, June 7, 2004 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Darlie Henrichsen was born to George Elroy and Myrtle Richardson Davis. She worked for fifteen years as a clerk in the county tax office in Edinburg, Texas. She was also a fifty-year member of Hidalgo County Home Demonstration Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Henrichsen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Edinburg. Preceding her in death are her husband, Walter A. "Babe" Henrichsen, and a son, Walter A. Henrichsen.     George Edward Hosch, 80 of Manor and formerly of Sharp, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Christopher House Hospice in Austin. Funeral services will be 10:00am Friday, April 23, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Monica's Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00pm-8:00pm Wednesday at Providence Funeral home in Taylor. Rosary will be recited 7:00pm Thursday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Mr. Hosch was born May 12, 1923 in Fort Worth to A.E. and Mary (Hertenberger) Hosch. He graduated from Sharp High School in 1941. He was a veteran of WWII and a Past Commander of the American Legion Edwin Hardy Post #9 in Cameron. Mr. Hosch was also a member of the VFW Post 2010 in Cameron. He married Lillian Valka in 1948, and she preceded him in death in 1988. Mr. Hosch worked as a farmer and also worked 32 years at ALCOA Aluminum Plant as a potman. In June of 1992 he married Dora Roithner and moved to the Manor area. He is also preceded in death by his brother Lawrence, son Joe, and stepdaughter Janice Hamann. Survivors include: wife Dora Hosch of Manor; sons James R. Hosch of Eddy and John W. Hosch of Bruceville; stepsons Ronald Roithner of Manor and Terrell Hamann of Coupland; sisters Nadine Wolff of Temple and Virginia Schattle of Temple; 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.     Alta Maurene House, 103, of Cameron, died Monday, May 24, 2004 in a Cameron nursing center. Graveside funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday at Salem-Wilson Cemetery near Cameron with Dr. Dan Darby and Rev. James Wheeless officiating. Daughter of Pearl Nabours and John W. House, Miss House was born October 14, 1900 in Cameron. She was a graduate of Cameron High School and Southwestern University. She taught school in Fort Worth for 40 years, retired, and returned to Cameron in 1966. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Texas Retired Teachers Association. She was a former member of the Cameron Delphian Club and the Cameron History Club where she had served as president in both. Survivors include a number of cousins.

    Lora B. Janes, 87 of Cameron, died Monday, May 31, 2004 in a Rockdale nursing facility. Funeral services will be 2:30pm Sunday, June 6, 2004 at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts. Burial will follow at Hope Lutheran Memorial Park. Lora Janes was born July 19, 1916 to Hugo and Ella (Zander) Fuessel in Lilac, Texas. In 1934, she married John D. Janes and he preceded her in death in 1981. She worked as a self-employed interior decorator and refinisher. Mrs. Janes was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts. Survivors include: Sons John D. Janes and wife Cynthia of Spring Branch, TX, and James H. Janes and wife Patti of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughter Juliann M. Mrs. Jeter, a retired news editor for the Cameron Herald, was born November 14, 1928 in Morgan City, Louisiana to Harry and Cynthia (Brunet) Picou. She married Donald Jeter in 1950. She had served on the Cameron City Council and on the Cameron Public Library Board. Mrs. Jeter was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in Cameron. Her beloved son, Matthew Jeter preceded her in death. Three brothers, Harry, Leroy and Dean and two sisters, Brunette Croom and Cynthia Bea Picou also preceded her in death. Mr. Kohring, a retired farmer, was born November 29, 1910 in the Vogelsang Community of Milam County to William and Marie (Roeder) Kohring. He moved to Clarkson in 1931 and in 1934 he married Ella Ottmer. She preceded him in death in 1999. Mr.. Kohring was a member of the United Church of Christ in Ben Arnold where he served in many capacities. Mr. Kopriva, a farmer, was born April 14, 1917 in the Oscar community of Bell County to Frank Anton and Amalie (Hrachovy) Kopriva. He married Rosa Lee Vrazel November 10, 1947. Mr. Kopriva was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Cameron Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2010, Disabled American Vets and the Knights of Columbus. Ms. Kostroun was born July 15, 1916 in the Marak community of Milam County to Joseph Felix and Mary Ann (Kostroun)Plsek. She married Henry Carl Abel in 1936 and he preceded her in death. In 1997, she married Joe Kostroun. She retired from JCPenny. She is preceded in death by son, Carl Henry Abel, 2 brothers, Joseph John Plsek and William Joe Plsek, and two sisters, Mary Reznicek and Agnes Strelsky. Mr. Krenek, a retired machinist, was born July 11, 1920 in Fayetteville, TX to Adolph and Frances(Zaskoda) Krenek. Mr. Krenek married Antonia (Toni) Rozner September 9, 1941. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2010 of Cameron and a member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Norman Kuzel was born June 10, 1934 in Milam County to William E. and Victoria (Kovar) Kuzel. He served for four years in the United States Navy, and married Barbara Junek. Mr. Kuzel worked for 30 years as a potman for ALCOA, and he also tended to his land and cattle. Preceding him in death are: his brother, William; a sister , Toni Rindorf; and a daughter, Karen.     Larry William Lacken, 59, of Cameron, died Friday, September 17 at his home. Services will be at a later date. His body will be cremated. Mr. Lacken, a chemical processing operator, was born April 26,1945 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Thomas Walter and Anna Louise (Decker) Lacken. He was an U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Lacken had also worked in the aerospace industry as a centerless grinder and he was a rancher. Survivors include his wife, Wendy Lacken of Cameron, daughter,Brenda Broussard & husband Rob of Texas City, grandchildren, Andrew and Katie.

    Ervin Marek, 88 of the Meeks Community, died Saturday, August 21, 2004 in a Temple nursing home. Graveside services 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 23, at Ocker Cemetery with Rev. Ron Winsman, of Ocker Brethren Church officiating. Family visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Mr. Marek was born in the Meeks Community to Joe W. and Louise (Batla) Marek on September 13, 1915. He attended Casey School and then graduated from C. H. Yoe High School. He married Erna Dusek in 1938, settling in the Meeks Community as a farmer and rancher where he lived until his death. He was a member of the Ocker Brethren Church. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Mayer, Terry Edward
    Terry Edward Mayer passed away July 11, 2004 in Cameron. Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clarkson Cemetery. Terry was born January 22, 1952 to Otto and Norine Mayer in Waco. At an early age, the family moved to Clarkson where he attended school in Burlington and Cameron. He graduated from Rosebud High School in 1970. He managed a Texaco station in Rosebud then moved to Waco where he worked for Central Texas Iron Works until he joined the Waco Fire Department in April, 1979. He retired in July, 2003 after 24 years from the Department and was an Engineer at the time of his retirement. Terry was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by: one brother, Jerry and wife Linda of Cameron: two sisters Betty Kostroun and husband Lawrence of Cameron, and Nancy Davis and husband Melvin of Waco; several nieces and nephews; many friends; special friends Dana Goodwin, Deana Culpepper and Rosie Johnson and two fuzzy friends Uno and Angel. Pallbearers will be Jerry Mayer, David Hertenberger, Steve Warshak, Jerry Pakonian, Jerad Pakonian, Davis Gaines, and Kevin Groppi. Honorary pallbearers will be Waco Fire Chief John Johnston, Deputy Fire Chief Harold Ferguson, Lt. Ronnie Condor, Robert Nixon and members of the Waco Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Waco Fire Fighters Relief Association, P.O. Box 8051, Waco, TX 76711-8051 or the charity of donor's choice. God saw that Terry was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, "Come with me." Herman Mueck was born January 18, 1915 to Steve and Francis (Morbitzer) Mueck in Milam County. He was married to Doris Marie (Taegel) Mueck, and worked as a farmer. Mr. Mueck was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree. He was also a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church. Preceding him in death are his son, Monte Mueck, and brothers Joe and Albert Mueck. Survivors include: wife Doris Mueck of Cameron; son Herman G. Mueck, Jr. of Houston; brothers Steve Mueck of Grand Prairie, George Mueck of Sealy; sisters Martha Berkeen of San Antonio, Anna Williams of San Antonio, Matilda Senkel of San Antonio, and Bertha House of Waco; grandchildren Denise Currie of Humble, and Russell Mueck of Rayne, Louisiana; and 6 great grandchildren.

    Travis James Mueck, 16, of Cameron died Thursday, January 27, 2004. Services will be 10:00a.m. January 30, 2004 at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Monica's Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 6:00p.m.Thursday at C.H. Yoe High School gymnasium. Travis was born July 30, 1987 in Temple to Larry James Mueck and Barbara Jean Roessler. He was a student at C.H. Yoe High School, and involved in many organizations. Travis was a member of the Future Farmers of America, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and was also involved in High School athletics in which he played football. Travis was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church.     Evelyn Henrietta Muse, 99, of Edinburg and formerly of Cameron died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at her home. Graveside services 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, October 6, at the Oak Hill Pavilion in Cameron. Family visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Mrs. Muse was born May 14, 1905 in Fort Worth, Texas to Marion and Suzie Worcester. She and her family moved to Cameron at an early age, where she attended school, married and raised her family. Later she and her husband moved to Edinburg, where she made her home for many years. Her husband, Eugene Lane Muse preceded her in death in February 1972. Three brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death.       Mamie Pack, 95, of Cameron, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004 in a Temple hospital. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery Pavilion. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Funeral Home. Ms. Pack was born March 21, 1908 in Bruceville, TX to John and Bertha (Moses) Johnson. She had served as a house parent for the Waco State Home as well as the Methodist State Home. Ms. Pack was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was actively involved at Bea's Kitchen. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron.       Otto James Pavlicek, 89, of Ennis (formerly of Cameron and Moulton), died Februrary 1, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Pavlicek was born June 12, 1914 in Moulton, TX to Frank and Julia (Gieptner) Pavlicek. He was a lifelong farmer, as well as a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.       Mildred Massengale Petty, 94 of Cameron died Tuesday, February 10, 2004 in a Cameron nursing facility. Graveside services will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Sharp Cemetery. Mildred Massengale Petty was born to H.W. and Ethel Nabours Massengale October 30, 1910 in Maysfield, TX. She attended local public schools, graduating from Yoe High School in 1927. She started her teaching career at eighteen in Maysfield. At that time, teachers received temporary certificates teaching in the winter and going to school in the summer. She received both Bachelors and Masters of Education Degree from Southwest Texas University at San Marcos. Her entire teaching career of 42 years was spent in Milam County, at Maysfield, Sharp, and Rockdale. On June 5, 1938 she was married to Lannis Petty and spent the next 54 years at Sharp. There, she was active in community affairs and was an elder in the Sharp Presbyterian Church. She was mother to Rebecca Sue Simmers who also preceded her in death, as did her husband Lannis Petty. She is survived by her granddaughter Rebecca Ruth Simmers; a brother, Colonel Hebert Massengale; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Buck.

      Mattie Belle Reese, 87 of Milano died Thursday, July 8, 2004 in a Rockdale nursing home. Funeral services will be 3:30pm Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Reese, a retired retail clerk, was born November 11, 1916 in the Liberty Community of Milam County to Rudolph and Maggie (Edwards) Miller. She married Harvin Reese in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1962. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the Liberty Cemetery Association. Three brothers and one sister also precede her in death. Roberts. Mrs. Roberts, a homemaker was also an artist. She was a member of the Arts and Service League, and the Ladies Golf Association. Ray Robison was born February 18, 1916 to Calvin Parnell and Mittie (Lowry) Robison in Cameron. He served in the United States Army Air Corps, and worked as a unit supervisor for Alcoa for 24 years. On January 23, 1943, he married Elizabeth Wilkerson. Mr. Robison is preceded in death by a great grandson, Zachary Fischer. Mrs. Shine was born June 30, 1909 to John Joe and Albina (Marek) Lesikar in DaCosta, Texas. Lafferty officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Miss Smith, a retired teacher was born, July 14, 1914 in Beaumont to William Curtis and Ada (Kemp) Smith. She graduated from C. H. Yoe High School, received her bachelor's degree from Baylor University and her master's degree from the University of Texas. She taught Texas, American and World History in Kosse school district one year before starting her teaching career in Cameron, where she taught for more than 40 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron where she had served as Sunday school teacher and served in the W.M.U. She was a member of the History Club, the Association of Retired Teachers and the Baylor Alumni Association. Survivors include cousins and many friends.
    Smith, Dorcas Grady Batte
      Dorcas Grady Batte Smith, 90, of Cameron, died Monday, February 9, 2004 in a Rockdale nursing home. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith was born March 26, 1913 in Cameron to J.S. (Dick) and Dorcas (Spiller)Batte. She was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School and had worked as a bookkeeper at several of the local businesses. She married Charles C. Smith Jr. November 14, 1940 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was the oldest surviving member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as member and Sunday School teacher. She was instrumental in starting the Cameron Public Library and in raising funds for the renovation of the Milam County Jail to start the Milam County Museum. Mrs. Smith had been Cameron Citizen of the Year, a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and a Girl Scout leader. Her sister Abbie Ship and brothers, Dick Batte and John Summer Batte also preceded her in death. Edwardene Smith was born June 18, 1911 to Edward and Lela (Dukes) Lovick in Fairview, Oklahoma. She was married to Monroe Smith, and worked as a secretary and clerk for Herman Estates in Houston for many years. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Houston. Preceding her in death are her husband, a brother, and three sisters. Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Spier, a homemaker, was born June 12, 1926 in Cross Plains to George Thurman and Ora Lee (Cass) Baum. She married Billy Russell Spier on November 15,1943 and he preceded her in death in 1972. She owned Town and Country Beauty Salon in Corpus Christi, and was also a property manager for Vic Neuman Properties in Waco for more than 30 years. Ms. Stapleton retired in 1990. Her husband, Howard N. Stapleton, Sr. and her brother John Vernon Bell preceded her in death. Survivors include: sons Howard Stapleton, Jr. and wife Maxie of San Juan, and J.W.       George Anton Tepera, 74 of Angleton and formerly of the Marak Community, died Friday, April 23, 2004 in Angleton. Services will be 11:00am Friday , April 30, 2004 at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Tepera was born October 8, 1929 in Milam County to Anthony and Frances (Sevcick)Tepera. He served in the United States Army Air Force, and was a route salesman for Morton. Mr. Tepera was a member of the Knights of Columbus and KJZT. He was also a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City.       Frank John Tomek, 83 of Burlington died Friday, July 9, 2004 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Monday at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church in Marak. Mr. Tomek, retired farmer and custodian, was born November 17, 1920 in Groveton to Karel and Frances Tomek. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the 132nd infantry during the Pacific Campaign. Mr. Tomek was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Burlington, and a life long member of K.J.T. Three brothers, Ludwig, Alfonse and Peter and one sister, Sister M. Juliana preceded him in death. Survivors include: brothers Joe Tomek of Burlington, Stanley Tomek of Temple, and Charlie Tomek of Wheatland, Wyoming; sister Frances Roper of Clifton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Marlow Baptist Church and had served as a volunteer with the American Heart Association, the Cancer Society, Salvation Army and the March of Dimes organizations.       Robert Lee Vaughan, 79, of Seattle, Washington died March 2, 2004 in a Seattle nursing facility. Graveside services will be held 3:30pm Friday, April 2, 2004 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Vaughan was born January 1, 1925 in Cameron to Thomas I. and Agnes (White) Vaughan. He served in the United States Navy, and worked as an electrician.       Joe Lee Vybiral, 69, of Buchanan Dam (and formerly of Cameron)died Saturday, February 7, 2004 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00pm-8:00pm Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral home. Mr. Vybiral was born November 19, 1934 in Cameron, TX to Anton and Rosa (Olis) Vybiral. He was a retired chief warrant officer for the U.S. Army, in which he served 35 years.       Dorothy Welch, 92 of Cameron died February 10, 2004 in a Temple hospital. No services are scheduled. The body will be cremated. Dorothy Welch was born November 17, 1911 in Colorado City, TX. She worked as a secretary for a manufacturing plant, and also worked at The Donut Hole in Cameron. Ms. Welch was a member of the First Spiritualist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, Albert Welch.

      Richard Franklin Welch, Sr. 90 of Cameron and formerly of Page, died Friday, December 10, 2004 in a Cameron hospital. Mose Whittington was born February 25, 1934 in Milam County to Riley H. and Eva Bell (Burkeen) Whittington. He served in the United States Air Force, and worked as a construction carpenter. Preceding Mr. Whittington in death are two brothers, Riley and Irvin Ray; a sister, Helen; and granddaughter Lisa Marie. Mr. Winkler, a farmer and rancher, was born May 24, 1926 in Cameron to Frank Anton and Pauline Rosena (Richter) Winkler. He served as a Master sergeant in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict in which he was a bronze star recipient. He married Reba Carter on July 25, 1953. He was a member of the St. Monica's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12601.       Mary Katherine Wohleb, 96 of Temple and formerly of Cameron died Saturday, October 23, 2004 in a Temple nursing facility. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Tom Hanus officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica's Mausoleum. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Mrs. Wohleb, a homemaker, was born March 19, 1908 in Nivnice, Moravia, Czechoslovakia to John and Katherine (Velik) Hromcik. Her father immigrated to the United States in March 1907 and her mother, along with Mary and an older brother and sister followed in June of 1909. They lived in St. Louis, Missouri for a time and then moved to Central Texas. She married Roy Edwin Wohleb on October 9, 1934 in Marak. He preceded her in death February 3, 1993. She was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church, the KJZT, RVOS, the St. Monica's Ladies Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2010. Survivors include: Son Roy Wohleb, Jr. of Temple Daughters Theresa Lee of Temple Evelyn K. Futschik of San Antonio 9 Grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
