Ansley, Mildred Caperton
Mildred Caperton Ansley, 77, of Cameron, died Saturday, September 20 in a Cameron
nursing facility. Graveside services 10:00 Wednesday in the Oak Hill Cemetery
Pavilion. Mrs. Ansley, a homemaker, was born February 26, 1926 in Cameron to
Pyrtle and Annie Elizabeth Mann Caperton. She married Tilmon David Ansley on
November 22, 1949 and he preceded her in death in 1998. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Cameron. Survivors include: 3 sons, David Wayne Ansley
of Denham Springs, Louisiana, John Layne Ansley of Springfield, Lousiana, and Paul
Michael Ansley of Friendswood, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren
Arnold, Loraine
Loraine Arnold, 86, of League City and formerly of Cameron died Wednesday, July
2, in a Nassau Bay hospital. Services 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Marek-Burns-Laywell
Chapel. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Arnold, a retired beautician, was born
July 12, 1916 in Benonine,Texas to Edgar and Pearl (Wilson) Clore. She was a
member of the First Christian Church in Cameron and the Christian Women's Fellowship.
Her husband, Cecil Arnold preceded her in death as did one sister and one brother.
Survivors include: son, Cecil Edward Arnold of Houston, brother Harold Clore of Houston, and
grandson, Christopher Arnold.

Balboa, Theodore, Sr.
Theodore Balboa, Sr. 90 of Cameron died Tuesday December 9 at his home. Services
2:00 p.m. Sunday at Templo El Calvario. Burial in Hernandez Cemetery. Mr. Balboa
a retired janitor for Cameron I.S.D. was born November 9, 1913 in Mathis to Domingo
and Elvira Gonzales Balboa. He was a member of Templo El Calvario church. He
married Marth Rodriguez for over 67 years. He was preceded in death by son Raymond,
grandson, Julian, great grandson Alex, great granddaughter Klarisa, Sister Mary
Rogers and son-in-law Raymond Jaramillo Jr. Survivors: wife, Martha Balboa of
Cameron, sons Rev. Theodore Balboa, Jr, Damon Balboa, Domingo Balboa & Rick
Balboa all of Cameron;daughters, Janie Cazares and Lupe Jaramillo both of Cameron,
Carolyn Rodriguez of Buckholts, RoseMary Santellano of Pettibone; brother, John
Gonzales of Killeen, sister Dominag Mendoza of Buckholts, 37 grandchildren, 68

Balusek, Clara Beatrice
Clara B. Balusek, 82 of Buckholts died Thursday, December 18 in a Temple hospital.
Services 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Chapel. Burial in Hope Lutheran Memorial Park.
Mrs. Balusek was born July 9, 1921 in Milam County to Herman and Annie Svetlik
Glaser. She had worked as a cook for Buckholts ISD and as a telephone operator
for many years. She was a member of the Buckholts Brethren Church where she was
also a member of the Christian Sisters. She was also a member SPJST. Three brothers
and three sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include: husband Johnnie
Balusek of Buckholts, and brother Milton Glaser of Cameron.
Bell, Sara "Sadie"
Sara (Sadie) Bell, 68 of Rosebud, died Monday, December 29 in a Cameron hospital.
Services 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Rosebud. Burial
Woodland Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the chapel.
Mrs. Bell was born February 4, 1935 to Tom and Alta (Archer) Miller in Menlow,
Texas. She married James Bell on November 10, 1952 in West, Texas. After moving
to Rosebud, they became owners and operators of Rosebud Lumber Company. She was
a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rosebud, where she had taught
Sunday school. She was instrumental in starting the Rosebud Pantry and the First
United Methodist 4th Sunday Meals for Shut-ins Program. She was a volunteer at
the Rosebud Senior Citizens Center. A son, Mark Bell, preceded her in death in
1961. Survivors include: husband, James Bell of Rosebud; sons Mike Bell and wife
Cheryl and David Bell & wife Kay all of Rosebud; daughter Janet Prater and husband
Thomas of Bryan; brother, Stanley Miller of Hewitt; sisters, Patsy McCoy of
Temple, May Jane Little of Euless; five grandchildren, Lacey Bell, Jennifer Bell,

William (Billy) Bitner, 38 of Cameron died Saturday, May 3, 2003 in a Cameron
hospital. Services 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial
Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bitner, owner and operator of Bill Bitner Capentry and
Custom Cabinets, was born December 31, 1964 in Salina, Kansas to William and Anna
June (Martinez) Bitner. He was a member of Marlow Baptist Church. He is survived
by: his wife, Tricia Bitner of Cameron; mother, June Collins of Colorado; his son
Kenny Schneebeli of Palacios; his brother, Eugene Bitner of Colorado; his sister
Anita Locklin of Thorndale; step-grandfater, Danny Bianko of Grand Junction,
Colorado; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nell and Walter Odstrcil of Cameron and

Lola (Doodle) Brasher, 91 of Cameron died Saturday, August 9, in a Rockdale nursing
home. Graveside services 10:00 a.m. Monday at Walkers Creek Cemetery.
Ms. Brasher, a retired waitress, was born March 15, 1912 in the Walkers Creek
community of Milam County to George and Elva Viola (Jinks) Baskin. She was a 1928
graduate of C. H. Yoe High School and a member of the Cameron Assembly of God Church.
She is preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Hicks, Jake and Wesley Baskin; by 3 sisters
Nunnie Burnett, Alta Miller and Iris Baskin; by 3 grandchildren, Cecil Dwaine
Fleming, David Dwayne Watkins and James Curtis Watkins III; by 1 great grandchild,
Darren Wheeler and by 1 great great grandchild, Erica. Survivors include 4
daughters, Calissa Fleming, Johna Goolsby and Iris Nemec all of Cameron and Dee

Lorene Caroline Brashear, 89, of Cameron died Monday, August 11 in a Temple hospital.

Community Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at funeral home.
Mrs. Brashear, a homemaker, was born January 17, 1915 in Milam County to William
Cleveland and Addie Mae (Bullock) Kirk. She was a member of the Cameron Church of
Christ. She is preceded in death by:her husband, J.W. Brashear;her son, Bobby Joe
Brashear;her grandson, Ronald Ray Brashear, Jr.;3 brothers, Thomas Kirk, Ray Kirk,
Bill Kirk; and sister, Ola Mae Kirk. Survivors include:3 sons, John David Brashear
of Magnolia, Ronald Ray Brashear of Cameron, Dan Wesley Brashear of Cameron; daughter
Betty Taylor of Cameron; sister, Faye O'Neill of Humble;sister-in-law, Grace Kirk

Richard Erle Burke, 72, of Cameron died Sunday, March 23 in a Temple hospital.
Services 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial Oak Hill
Cemetery. Mr. Burke, a retired computer supervisor for Santa Fe Railroad, was
born August 3, 1930 in Cameron to Erle Curtis and Marguerite Cooley Burke. He
married Barbara Evers on December 22, 1956. Mr. Burke was a U. S. Marine Corps
veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church. He is survived by: his wife, Barbara Burke of Cameron and his daughter,
Jan Stevens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Judith Caldwell, 66 of Elkhart and formerly of Cameron, died Monday, June 2,
in a Crockett hospital. Services 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral
Home. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Ms. Caldwell, a bookkeeper, was born January 4,
1937 in Cameron to John and Alma Josephine (Fricke) Bryan. A brother, Billy Bryan
preceded her in death. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Valarie Broadway of Palestine
and Melanie Parker of Grapeland, Her mother Alma Bryan of Cameron, 2 Brothers, Doug
Bryan of Cameron and Ronald Bryan of Temple, 4 grandchildren and 4 Great grandchildren.
Callaway, Bonnelle Neinast
Bonnelle Neinast Callaway, 90 of Cameron died Sunday April 13 at her home. Service
10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Callaway was born September 27, 1916 in Cameron to Jim and Ada Mae (Stone)
Neinast. She was Salutatorian for C.H. Yoe Class of 1930 and she married J.L.
Callaway. He preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by daughter, Jane
Callaway of Cameron.
Carraway, Daniel William
Daniel William Carraway, 80, of Temple and formerly of Santa Fe, died Thursday,
February 13, 2003 in a Temple hospital. Graveside services were held Saturday, February 15th
at Grace Memorial Park in Santa Fe.
Mr. Carraway, a retired electrician, was bor March 19, 1922 in Shongaloo, Louisiana to William
Richard and Alice Bertha Hearon Carraway. He was a retired Coast Guard veteran of W.W. II and the
Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Yockanookany Baptist Church and a member of the LaMarque
Masonic Lodge AF & AM.
He was preceded in death by 2 wives; Florence of 38 years and Eva Georgia of 18 years.
He is survived by:1 son Bill Carraway and wife Jan of Texas City; 2 daughters, Denise Barberis and
husband Franco of Pearland and Nancy Bowen and husband Bill of Cameron; 2 sisters, Margaret
Giles of Sarepta, La. and Ruth DeLoach of Laurel, Ms., 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and
3 great great grandchildren.

Peggie Banks Casey, 95 of Cameron and formerly of Dallas died Saturday December 13,
in a Cameron nursing facility. Services 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
Mrs. Casey, a physical education teacher for University Park Elementary for more
than 30 years, was born in Fayette County June 21, 1908 to F.M. and Hermine Schaffer
Banks. She was a graduate of Austin High School and the University of Texas. She
married Newman F. Casey in 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1988. Four
brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. Survivors include: son,
Dr. James Casey of Georgetown; daughters, Kitty Flinn of Cameron and Kim Morris
of Arlington, 8 granchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Mr. Cook, self employed mechanic was born October 19, 1944 in Cameron to Edward
Norman and Lottie (Young) Cook. He was a member of Battetown Baptist Church. He is
survived by:Sister, Sharon Balch; 2 nieces Rebekka Balch and Johanna Balch and
by 1 great nephew, Wesley James Balch.
Coker, Grady Willis
Grady Willis Coker, 77, of Cameron, died Friday, May 30 at his residence. Services
5:00 p.m. Sunday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Coker, a retired Alcoa instrument technician, rancher and business owner, was
born November 19, 1925 to Ellis and Alice Skaggs Coker in Hunt County. He served in the
69th infantry of the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a life member of The American
Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Amy Schlemmer July 21, 1997.
Survivors include: wife, Amy Coker of Cameron, 3 sons, Ed Coker of Friendswood,
Danny Coker of Hewitt, Randy Coker of Temple, 1 daughter, Debby Garrett of Morgan's

Templo Alabanza, was born in Cameron, January 3, 1951 to Francisco and Florence
Trevino Corona. He married Rita Ann Espitia. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam
conflict, a rancher and had also worked with the Santa Fe Railroad and St.
Edward's Hospital. He is survived by:his wife, Rita Corona of Cameron; three sons

Dent, a Milano High School Spanish Teacher, was born October 28, 1964 in Grand

Gause Baptist Church and a class sponsor for Milano High School. Her father
preceded her in death in 2002. Survivors include: her husband, Craig Dent of

Patsy Edmonds, 74 of Cameron died Wednesday, July 2 in a Cameron Nursing home.
Services 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs.
Edmonds was born August 5, 1928 to Roy and Jewel Stanley Skeen in Cooper. She
graduated East Texas State University before receiving her masters from Texas A & M
University. She retired from the Cameron ISD after 30 years of service. Mrs.
Edmonds was a member of the First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her
husband, Albert in 1999. Survivors include: daughter, Karen Zielinski and fiance,
Dennis Daly of Cameron. Sisters, Betty Thompson of Cooper, Thalia McCarter of Paris
and Thelia Jones of Paris and one grandchild.
Ellis, James Floyd
James Floyd Ellis, 88, of Rockdale and formerly of Cameron died Saturday September
20, at his residence. Services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Oak Hill Cemetery Pavilion.
Mr. Ellis was born February 9, 1915 in Forney, Texas. He married Lona Ellen Rowan
October 10, 1935 in Breckenridge. He retired from Texaco after 40 years of service.
Survivors include: his wife, Lona Ellen Ellis of Cameron; 2 sons, Charles O. Ellis
of Cameron, Jimmy W. Ellis of Rockdale; daughters, Imogene Ellis of Monroe, Oklahoma

Fuchs, Johnnie P.
Johnnie P. Fuchs, 96, of Buckholts, died Friday, May 16, in a Temple nursing
facility. Funeral services 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Hope Lutheran Church. Burial in
Hope Lutheran Memorial Park. Mr. Fuchs, owner and operator of Fuchs Cash Grocery
and Feed Store, from 1933 until 1963, was born Aprial 24, 1907 in Buckholts to
Herman and Dora (Jungmann) Fuchs. He married Addeline Dorothy Geistmann and was
a member of Hope Lutheran Church. Five brothers; Walter Fuchs, Henry Fuchs, Herman
Fuchs, Leo Fuchs, Theo Fuchs and two sisters; Frieda Dinker and Dora Glaser preceded
him in death. Survivors include, his wife, Addeline Fuchs, his daughter Jeannette
Glaser, 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Fuchs, Lorine Mary Schiller
Lorine Mary Schiller Fuchs, 90, of Buckholts died Tuesday, June 10 in a Temple
nursing home. Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts.
Burial in Hope Lutheran Memorial Park.
Mrs. Fuchs, a homemaker, was born November 23, 1913 in Burlington to Jerry B.
Schiller and Mary Machat. She married Harold Fuchs on December 12, 1935 and he
preceded her in death in 1996. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. A brother, Jerry Schiller also preceded her in
death in 2002. Survivors include 2 sons, Barton Fuchs of Hurst and Carroll Fuchs
of Jarrell, one sister LaVerne Vanicik of Belton and grandson Brian Fuchs. Memorials

Crystal Garza, 18, of Cameron, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, due to injuries sustained
in an automobile/pedestrian accident near Pettibone in Milam County. Services

10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hernandez Cemetery. Miss Garza, a senior at C. H. Yoe
High School, was born March 15, 1985 in Dallas to Jesus Guadalupe Garza and
Maria De La Luz Velez. She is survived by:father, Jesus Garza of Cameron; mother
Maria Garza of Cameron; grandparents, Andrea Munoz, Herodita Garza and Jesus Garza
all of Nuevo Laredo; brothers, Jesse Garza, Edward Garza and Aaron Garza all of
Cameron; sisters, Zulema Castillo of Temple, Rocio Orozco, Andrea Garza, Esmeralda

Glaser, Hilda
Hilda Glaser, 85, of Buckholts, died Friday, February 14, 2003 in a Temple nursing home.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 18th, at the Corinth
Cemetery near Buckholts. A memorial service was held immediately following
at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts with Rev. Gary Kleypas officiating.
Mrs. Glaser, a homemaker, was born July 11, 1917 to Joseph and Louise Batla Marek
in Bell County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Glaser on December
28, 2000.
She is survived by 2 sons: Stanley Glaser and Richard Glaser, both of
Buckholts; 1 brother, Ervin Marek of the Meeks Community; 1 sister, Louise Glaser
of Buckholts; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Gootee, Martha Elizabeth
Martha Eizabeth Gootee, 81, of Cameron died Tuesday, March 18 in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.
Entombment will be at the St. Monica's Mausoleum. Visitation will be Thursday
from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Gootee, a homemaker, was born October 19,
1921 in Albany, Georgia to Clyde Tilghman and Belle Kirksey. She married Glenn
Gootee on July 27, 1942. Mrs. Gootee was a member of the First United Methodist
Church where she served with the United Methodist Women and as acolyte coordinator
for many years. She also served as Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator in Cameron
for many years. She is survived by: her husband, Glenn Gootee of Cameron;her sons
Bruce Gootee of Bossier City, Louisiana, William Ervin Gootee of Gonzales;her
daughters, Joyce Montgomery of Plano and Sandra Brents of Spring and 6 grandchildren.
Green, Lillie
Lillie Green, 91 of Cameron died Saturday, June 07, 2003 in a Cameron hospital.
Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in
Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Green was born in Milam County on October 20, 1911 to
Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Pfarrdrescher. She and her husband, Henry Green, were owners/
operators of Green's Grocery on West Main for over 50 years, which she ran after
his death in 1953. A brother, Richard Pfarrdrescher and two sisters, Annie
Riemer and Tillie Simmons also preceded her in death. She was a catholic.
Greger, Jo Webb
Jo Webb Greger, 71 of Lott died Friday, February 7, 2003 in a Temple hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home
in Cameron with burial in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park.
Ms. Greger, a retired quality control inspector for Marathon Batteries
in Waco, was born September 28, 1931 in Globe, Arizona to Ira Hines and Doris
Runnels Webb.
She is survived by 5 sons; Michael Gregor of Westphalia, Nick Gregor of Lott,
Richard Greger of Rosebud, Dale Greger of Lott, Tony Greger of Temple; 6 daughters;

Billie June Harwell, 68, of Cameron died Saturday, September 20, in a Temple

Edgar Bernice and Meda Faye (Bailey) Williams in Cameron. She married Thomas
Harwell on December 21, 1957. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the
Cameron Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Cameron V.F.W. Ladies

Victor Walter (VW) Hauk, 70 of Cameron died Monday, March 24 at his home. Services
2:00 p.m. Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial in the Clarkson
Cemetery in the Clarkson Community. Mr. Hauk, rancher and retired Milam County
Commissioner, was born to Joe and Vera Garrett Hauk. He married Anita Ocker on
April 23, 1954. He was an U. S. Army Veteran and a member of SPJST. Two brothers,
Jimmy Hauk and Paul Hauk preceded him in death. Mr. Hauk is survived by: his wife,

Gloria Hause, 69 of Cameron died Friday, August 29 in a Rockdale nursing facility.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church with Rev.
Elizabeth Hanley officiating. Burial at Hope Lutheran Memorial Park in Buckholts.
Mrs. Hause, a homemaker, was born March 18, 1934 in the Yarrellton community of
Milam county, to Arnold Henry and Emma Rose Glaser Jungmann. She was valedictorian
of the 1951 class of C. H. Yoe High School and a graduate of Durham Business
College in Austin. She married Bentley Hause on November 20, 1955. Mrs. Hause
was a charter member of the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church where she was active in
many church organizations and had played the piano and organ for Sunday school and
worship services for many years. Survivors include: her husband, Bentley of Cameron,
son, Lance Hause of Cameron; 2 daughters, Pamela Fleming and husband Ricky of
Temple and Jana Beckhusen and husband Jay of Buckholts; her mother Emma Jungmann of
Cameron; her sister, Doris Hornung of Cameron and 3 grandsons.

Margaret Clara Willard Hensley, 80 of Dallas died December 11 in a Dallas Medical
center. Services Monday, December 15 at Chapel. Burial will follow in the
Walkers Creek Cemetery. She was born in Corsicana, November 11, 1923 to J. jG. and Clara Fuller
Willard. She graduated from Corsicana High School, attended the University of Texas at
Austin and had lived in Corsicana, Cameron, Temple Garland and Dallas. She was a
member of the First United Methodist Church of Garland and the Colonel George
Mason Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death
by parents, a brother, Gordon Willard, a son, John Willard Hensley and her husband

funeral home. Mr. Hernandez, a retire farm laborer, was born March 1, 1918 in
Ben Arnold to Valentine and Suzanna (Madril) Hernandez. He is survived by one

Pat Hughes, 74 of Rockdale, died Saturday, July 29, in a Temple hospital. Services
1:00 p.m. Monday, July 7 at the Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum in Oakland,
California. Local memorial services will be held at a later date. Mr. Hughes,
a beauty/barber supply salesman was born May 7, 1929 in Menard, Texas to Autie
and Fern (Luckett) Hughes. He was a navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He
married Marian McCallum on July 24, 1954. A daughter, Patrice Hughes, preceded
him in death. Survivors include: his wife, Marian Hughes of Rockdale, 3 sons,

home. Mr. Jedlicka, a steel worker, was born June 11, 1916 in Milam County to
John H. and Mary Anna (Luskac) Jedlicka. He was an army veteran of W.W. II. A
daughter, Edna Pauline Gabriel preceded him in death. Survivors include: his son

Gloria Jean Jistel, 58 of Whitehouse and formerly of Cameron died Friday, May 23
in a Dallas hospital following a lengthy illness. Services 11:00 a.m. Monday at

born January 3, 1945. She was raised in Cameron. She married Clarence Jiste
September 21, 1961. She had worked in the Sears personnel department from which
she retired after 27 years. She was a member of Walter Fair Methodist Church.

was born May 30, 1940 in Texas City to John Nathan and Lelia Leola DeFore Johns.

was born August 24, 1924 in Cameron to Leo and Mary (Zarosky) Ejem. She was a
member of St. Monica's Catholic Church and to St. Monica's Ladies Society. She
was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Newton Johnson in 1990 and by two
sons, Thomas Johnson, Jr. in 1980 and David Johnson in 1991. Survivors include:

Martha Jungmann, 87, of Buckholts, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in a Cameron
hospital. Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church in
Buckholts with Rev. Gary Kleypas officiating. Burial Hope Lutheran Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jungmann, a homemaker, was born April 30, 1916 in Milam County to Frank and
Anna Zander Galler. She married Robert Jungmann on June 20, 1934. He preceded
her in death in 1981. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where she
performed cutodial duties for many years. She served in the Milam County 4-H and
home demonstration for many years. Two brothers, Alfred Galler and Fritz Galler
also preceded her in death. Survivors include 4 sons, Carroll Jungmann of Allen,
Benard Jungmann of Spicewood, Arvell Jungmann of Buckholts and Larry Jungmann; 1

Kohutek, Edwin Lee
Edwin Lee Kohutek, 83 of Cameron died Tuesday, March 18, at his residence. Funeral services
3:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Marlow cemetery.
Mr. Kohutek was born September 12, 1919 in Crosby to John Ruzicka and Rosie Kohutek.
He was the owner operator of the Buckhorn Bar and had worked also for Style Home
Furniture and Charolett Pipe. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in
Ben Arnold. Mr. Kohutek was an Army Veteran of W.W. II. He was a member of the American
Legion Post #9 in Cameron, the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department and S.P.J.S.T.
Two half-brothers, Joe Ruzicka and Amil Kohutek preceded him in death. He is
survived by: his wife, Fay Kohutek of Cameorn;two sons, Edwin Kohutek, Jr. and
his wife Crystal of Houston, Jimmy Kohutek and his wife Sheri of Cameron; two
daughters, Kathryn Nachlinger and her husband James of Bryan, Debbie Williams and

Joe Johnny Kral, 72 of Buckholts died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at his residence
Graveside services were held Friday, February 14, 2003 at St. Monica's Cemetery

Mr. Kral, a self-employed mechanic was born October 12, 1930 in Milam County to Joe
and Sophie Kubish Kral. He is survived by several cousins.

Stephen "Skeeter" Krwawicz, 74 of Buckholts, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at his
residence. Services 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Krwawicz, a
retired customer service representative for HEB, was born January 12, 1929
in Philadelphia, PA to Theodore and Maria Petrisko Krwawicz. He was a Marine
veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Buckholts

Miss Kubecka was born November 1, 1910 in Cameron to Dominic and Christine
(Parma) Kubecka. She had worked as a Western Union operator early in her career;
she then worked in the Milam County Clerks office, for NASA and Fannie Mae.
She was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her brother Dennis Kubecka of Cameron and sister Dorothea
Helmke of San Antonio.

Clara Kunesh, 94 of Cameron died Wednesday, November 19, in a Temple hospital.
Services 12 Noon Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth. Mrs. Kunesh,
a homemaker, was born April 15, 1909 in Milam County. She was a 1928 graduate of
C. H. Yoe High. She was a member of the Buckholts Brethren Church where she was
a member of the Christian Sisters. She was a member of SPJST. Her husband,
Joseph Kunesh preceded her in death in 1960. Her brother, Clarence Sisa also
preceded her in death. Survivors include several nieces and nephews>.
Krupicka, Raymond Arnold
Raymond Arnold Krupicka, 86 of Buckholts, died Tuesday, November 18 in a Temple
nursing home. Services 1:00 p.m. Thursday at chapel. Burial in Hope Lutheran
Memorial Park. Mr. Krupicka, a retired farmer, was born February 26, 1917 in
Buckholts to Vince and Albina Tomasek Krupicka. He had also worked at Modern
Gin in Buckholts and for Milam County. He was an army veteran of WWII and a
member of the Buckholts Brethren Church. A sister Viola Brown and a brother
William J. Krupicka preceded him in death. Survivors include: Daughter, Dorothy

Lindsey. She married Jack Logan and was a member of the First Baptist Church in

John A. (Tarta) Looney, 78 of Cameron died Sunday, May 18 in a Temple hospital due to
injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Looney, a retired rancher
and farmer and life long resident of Milam County was born January 25, 1925 in
Milam County to Will and Mayme (Steger) Looney. He married Bobbye Jean Groppell
in 1948. He was a member of the Cameron Horse Club. A daughter, Marcey Jean Looney
preceded him in death. Survivors include, his wife, Bobbye Looney of Cameron,
son, Mark Looney of Houston, 2 daughters, Sharon Ann Jackson of Austin and

Edward Frank Macal, 83 of Cameron died Tuesday, December 16 in a Cameron hospital.
Services 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Burial St. Monica's
cemetery. Mr. Macal was born in Cameron to Steve and Judity Matuska Macal. He was
a 1939 graduate of C. H. Yoe High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII
serving in China, Burma and India. He retired from Coca-Cola after 48 years of
service and with Macal Wedding and Catering for over 28 years. He was a member of
the St. Monica's Catholic Church and VFW Post #2010 in Cameron. Four sisters preceded

McCullin, Sr. in Minerva on September 21, 1930. A.W. and Vivian founded Mack's
Oil Company in 1931. Vivian was very active all her life in the business and
continued operating the business at the death of A. W. She was a life long
Methodist and joined the First United Methodist Church in Cameron in 1939, where
she served in numerous capacities. Vivian was a member of the History Club,
served for many years as a member of the Cameron Hospital Auxiliary, the United
Methodist Women, as a Sunday School teacher and a Cub Scout Den Mother. In
addition to her husband, one son, Grover C. McCullin, two brothers, Hugh Lucas
and Clayton Lucas and two sisters, Mildred Lucas House and Gladys Lucas Cundiff,
preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Albert McCullin, Jr. and his
wife Doris of Cameron, one sister, Margaret Lucas Francis of Troy, Ohio, four
grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
McGregor, Talmadge "Mac"
Talmadge "Mac" McGregor, 87 of Cameron, died Wednesday, July 30 in a Temple
hospital. Services 11:00 a.m. Friday at funeral home chapel. Burial Oak Hill
Cemetery. Mr. McGregor was born October 17, 1915 to Amos and Lillian Woods
McGregor in Milano. He married Lorraine Roskey February 24, 1940 and was a
member of Rice Baptist Church. He retired from the smeltering division of
Alcoa in Rockdale. His son, Jimmy Ray McGregor preceded him in death as did his
sister, Myrle Cochran. Survivors include: his wife, Lorraine McGregor of Cameron;
his son, Charlie McGregor of Rockdale; nephew, Mike Robison of Austin, 2 grandchildren
and 3 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church in

McIntosh, Henriem
Henriem McIntosh, 87, of Cameorn died Sunday, July 6, in a Cameron hospital. Services
10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Mrs. McIntosh
was born December 4, 1915 in Cameron to Henry Martin and Nell (Hunt) Hefley. She
received her Bachelor's degree in Journalism from University of Texas after also
spending 2 years at Southwestern University in Georgetown. She received her Masters
in English from Texas A & M. She married William McIntosh and was a member of the
First United Methodist Church in Cameron. Mrs. McIntosh taught school at
Southwestern University and in the Cameron and Milano school districts. She also
assisted her husband in the family clothing store. A son William McIntosh, Jr.
preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband William (Bill) McIntosh of
Cameron, a nephew, Henry F. McIntosh of El Paso, and a niece, Katherine Sawina of
Houston.
McIntosh, William
William McIntosh, 89 of Cameron, died Monday, December 15, in a Cameron nursing
center. Services 1:30 p.m. Thursday at chapel. Burial Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr.
McIntosh, owner and operator of McIntosh's Department Store for more than 50
years, was born April 23, 1914 in Hereford to William L and Lydia Hood McIntosh.
He served four years in the U. S. Army, advancing to the rank of Infantry Captain
and serving in Europe during WWII including service during the Battle of the Bulge.
He married Henriem Hefley and she preceded him in death in July of 2003. He was
a member of the First United Methodist Church and San Andres Lodge #170 A. F. &
A. M. Son, William L. McIntosh, Jr. also preceded him in death. Survivors include
nephew, Henry F. McIntosh of El Paso and niece, Katherine Sawina of Houston.
Mayes, Nell
Nell Mayes, 97, of Hearne and formerly of Cameron, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003
in a Bryan hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Burial will follow in the Little River Cemetery near Maysfield.
Miss Mayes, was born January 10, 1906 in Maysfield to R. B. Mayes, Jr.
and Kittie Belle Newton. She was a graduate of C. H. Yoe High School in 1923.
She graduated from Daniel Baker College in Brownwood with a Bachelor of Science
in Education in 1939. She attained her Master of Education in 1953 from the
University of Houston. She also had attended Sul Ross State University,
Southwest Texas State University, Texas A & M University, Texas Technological
Universitay and Mary Hardin Baylor. Miss Mayes was a member of the Texas State
Teacher's Association, Life Member of Texas Retired Teachers Association,
University of Houston Federation of Alumni and the First Presbyterian Church of
Cameron. She taught school for 44 years, all but one year, in Milam County.
She taught first grade in Cameron for 20 years. She was a decendant of
Thomas Mayes Newton and James Knox Polk Newton, namesakes of Maysfield community.
Survivors include her sister, Kitty Barry of Arlington and numerous nieces
and nephews. Family visitation will be held Friday 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Pearl Mowdy, 79 of Cameron died Thursday, July 24 in a Temple hospital. Funeral

Friday 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Mrs. Mowdy, homemaker, was born March 21, 1924
in Milam County to Dan and Dollie Ann (Edmonds) Henson. She had worked as a
nurse's aid for many years at the Cameron and Colonial nursing homes in Cameron and
at the Manor Oaks nursing home in Rockdale. Her husband, Willis Mowdy and 8
brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include: 4 daughters;
Shirley Mikulec of Ft. Worth, Carol Tucker, Penny Horelica and Cindy Leonard all
of Cameron; 2 brothers, Nook Henson, Jr of Temple and Weldon Henson of Rockdale;

Hazel Louise Michalka, 81 of Cameron died Sunday, November 23 in a Rockdale nursing

Michalka, a homemaker was born June 19, 1922 in Rogers to Dick and Myrtle Lee
Hill Riddle. She was a Catholic. Her husband Robert G. Michalka, a brother,
Robert Riddle and a sister Roxie Moore preceded her in death. Survivors

John A. Mullens, 81, of Cameron, died Monday, March 17, in a Rockdale hospital.
Funeral services, 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial
in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Mullens
was born January 26, 1922 in Gomez, Texas to John Noah Mullens and Mettie Emma
Robinson. He was an army veteran of W.W. II. He married Dorothy Hibbitt on
November 5, 1952. Mr. Mullens retired after 30 years from the Texas Highway
Department. He was a life member of the 36th Infantry Division and the American
Legion Post #9 of Cameron. He was a member of the New Beginnings Gospel
Tabernacle. Three sisters, Emma May Mullens, Thelma Wilson, Kate Hewitt and a
brother, Burel Mullens preceded him in death. He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy

Edward Willis Neeley, 66, of Cameron, died Monday December 22 at his home. Services
11:00 a.m. Friday December 26 at Chapel. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill
Cemetery. Mr. Neeley was born September 15 1937 in Cameron to James and Mary
McCleney. He served in the Army during Korean conflict and Vietnam conflict and retired after 23 years.
He also worked for Texas Hydraulics in the Shipping and receiving department.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Weldon Neeley and Billy Neeley.

John A. Pernice, 83, of Cameron died Monday, March 3, at his home. Memorial
services will be held at a later date. Mr. Pernice was born August 27, 1919 in
Sicily, to Vincent and Maria Graziano Pernice. He served in the Army tank and
infantry divisions during World War II. After the service, He worked as a route
salesman for Coca-Cola for more than 27 years. He was a member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars Post 2010 of Cameron where he served as Bingo chairman for over
20 years. Mr. Pernice was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church. Survivors
include: his wife, Jodie Pernice of Cameron;his son, James Pernice of Wichita,KS;

Charles Hardin Pollard, 87, of Cameron died Friday, August 22 in a Temple hospital.
Services 12:00 noon Monday at the funeral home. Masonic services to
follow and burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Pollard, a retired petroleum engineer, was born
November 17, 1915 in Cameron to Charles Hardin and Nell McCandless Pollard. He
was a graduate of C. H. Yoe High School and of the University of Texas from which
he received his degree in petroleum engineering. Mr. Pollard was a Navy veteran
of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled
American Veterans lodge. He was an endowed member of the San Andres Lodge #170
A. F. & A. M. as well as the Milano and Rockdale Masonic Lodges and the Scotish Rite.
He volunteered in the Retired Naval Affairs Office for over 10 years. His wife,
Helen Ryan Pollard, preceded him in death in 1991. Suvivors include: sons;Charles Hardin Pollard, Jr.
of Austin, Randall Kent Pollard of Esslingen, Germany; daughter, Martha Pollard Orrell

Mrs. Powell, a homemaker, was born January 2, 1909 in Limestone County to Betty

she served as secretary for her Sunday School Class for many years. Survivors

October 13, 1935 in Milam County to Ernest August and Anna Jedlicka Schlemmer. He
served in the U.S. Navey. A son Kelly Schlemmer preceded him in death in 1980 as

Schoppe, Alfonse
(Cameron) Alfonse Lloyd Schoppe, 80 of Cameron, died Sunday, January 26th, 2003 in a
Temple nusring facility. Funeral services were be held January 28th at St. Monica's Catholic
Church with burial in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Frenstat in Burleson County.
Mr. Schoppe was born in Birch and was an Army veteran of World War II. He served in Italy and
in North Africa as a cook with the rank of staff sergeant.

Robert of Marak, and George of Gatesville.

Mrs. Tag was born April 21, 1912 in Cameron to Robert Lee and Amelia Peters

Harry William Tag on January 23, 1931 and he preceded her in death. She worked for the First National Bank
in Cameron for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church
in Cameron. Survivors include: Nephew, Jack Smith of Ennis; great nephew
Bruce Raymond Smith of Luanda, Africa; great nieces, Linda L. Smith of Cameron and
Lee Ann McCown.

Vogelsang, Dorris Jean
Dorris Jean Vogelsang, 83 of Ben Arnold died Friday, October 10, in a Cameron
nursing facility. Services 11:00 a.m. Monday at Vogelsang family Cemetery near
Ben Arnold. Mrs. Vogelsang, a homemaker was born in Bastrop County June 4th,
1920 the daughter of Willie and Sophie (Reinhardt) Miller. She was baptized and
confirmed July 11, 1937 in the First English Lutheran Church in Austin. She
married Iven Vogelsang in Austin on February 1, 1947. She was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church in Cameron. Her parents, brother, Bennie Miller, who was
killed in WWII; sisters Lillie Jentsch and Annie Heilscher, preceded her in death.
Survivors include: her husband, Iven Vogelsang of Ben Arnold; 3 Sons, John Andy
Vogelsang of Ben Aronld, Ben Vogelsang of Cameron, Bill Vogelsang of Cameron; 2
daughters, Jean Lester of LaGrange, Linda McClure of Temple; sisters Elise Wier
of Round Rock, Eleanor Montfort of Austin, Rosa Lee Rice of Portland, Oregon;
12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren

Walzel, Anita Louise
Anita Louise Walzel, 70 of Cameron died Saturday, December 27 in a Cameron
nursing facility. Services 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Monica's Catholic Church.
Rosary 6:00 p.m. Sunday at chapel. Burial will be in the St. Monica's Cemetery.
Miss Walzel was born September 28, 1933 to Emil Joe and Annie Richter Walzel in
Milam County. She was a 1953 graduate of C. H. Yoe High School and had worked as
a retail sales clerk in Cameron for many years. She was a member of St. Monica's
Catholic Church, the St. Monica's Ladies Society and Central Texas Hospital
Auxiliary. Survivors include; brother, Joe Walzel and sister Eugenia Turner both
of Cameron.
Wheeler, R. L., Jr.
R. L. Wheeler, Jr. 67, of Holland, Texas died Sunday May 18 at his home. Services
10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Academy. Burial Val Verde
Cemetery. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
Mr. Wheeler was born November 17, 1935 to Robert Leroy and Mildred Baskin Wheeler
in Three Rivers. He was a graduate of C. H. Yoe High School in Cameron in 1955.
He served in the U. S. Air Force and was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Academy. He was a shipping coordinator of Wilson Art for 27 years. He married
Becky Mason June 10, 1961 in Academy. Survivors include his wife: Becky Wheeler
of Holland, daughter, Luanna Bennight of Academy, two sons, Kevin Wheeler of
Holland and Shawn Wheeler of Sturgis, S.D., two sisters, Rita Buff of Mathis,and Modene
Fincher of Cameron and one brother James C. Wheeler of Milano and 5 Grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Academy.
Williams, Imogene "Jean"
Imogene "Jean" Williams, 79, of Rockdale died Sunday, February 16, in Houston. Funeral
services were held Wednesday, February 19, 2003 Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with
burial in the Little River Cemetery.
She was born January 19, 1924 in Maysfield to Elbert and Kathleen Hollingsworth.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years, Garland
Williams.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Billy
Wedemeyer of Houston; one niece and her husband, Lisa and Jimmie Wilson of LaPorte, two
great nephews, Byars and Brooks Wilson and one great niece, Baylee Wilson of LaPorte; one
stepdaughter and her husband, Shirley and Jim Tooke, of Aurora, Colorado; one stepson,
Duane Williams, of Rockdale.
Whittington, Riley Hunt, Jr.
Riley Hunt Whittington, Jr. 73, of Brazoria and formerly of Milam
County, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at his residence. Graveside
services were held Friday, February 7, at Marlow Cemetery near
Cameron.
Mr. Whittington, a retired heavy equipment operator, was born November
3, 1929 in the Port Sullivan community of Milam County to Riley H. and
Eva Bell Burkeen Whittington.
He married Bobbie Faye Black on August 25, 1949. Mr. Whittington was
preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Whittington of Brazoria; a daughter,
Betty Faye Fuhrman of Brazoria, 1 brother, Mose Whittington of Houston;
a sister, Myrlene Roberts of Waco; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Zalesky, Alvin Anton
Alvin Anton Zalesky, 72 of Cameron died Friday October 17 at his home. Services
1:00 p.m. Monday at funeral home. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Zalesky, a
retired metal service worker for Aluminum Company of America, was born February 1, 1931
in Buckholts to Anton and Annie (Olis) Zalesky. He married Lucille James and she
preceded him in death in 1997. Survivors include: sons, Jimmy Zalesky and Danny Zalesky
both of Cameron; mother, Annie Zalesky of Austin; 2 brothers, Franklin Zalesky of Alvin,
Leon Zalesky of Cameron; 3 sisters, Della Keeshan of Austin, Molly Guthrie of
Austin, Janice Miles of Austin; 1 grandchild and 4 step-grandchildren
Zavrel, Louis Anton
Louis Anton Zavrel, 82, of Rockdale, died Thursday, October 9, 2003 in a Rockdale
nursing home. Services 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Burial
Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Marak. Mr. Zavrel was born March 30,
1921 in Cameron to V. L. and Mary (Sklenar) Zavrel. He retired from Aluminum
Company of America in 1983 as a crane operator. He was an army veteran of World
War II. He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church, VFW Lodge 6525 in
Rockdale and the KJT Lodge #39 of Marak. Survivors include: Long-time friend and
companion, Helen Horelica of Rockdale; stepson, Frank (Toy) Horelica of Rockdale;
4 sisters, Sister Genevieve Zavrel of Victoria, Helen Hubnik of Cameron, Frances
Zavrel of Cameron and Annie Mae Jochec of Marak; grandson Tony Schlemmer
